Set against the scenic mountain of Huayna Picchu (Quechua language: Young Mountain), the Inca city is divided into four sectors. Finally the south-east, the bottom of Machu Picchu, are located more humble homes separated by smalls streets. Machu Picchu was never known by the Spanish conquistadors.

The Inca city of Machu Picchu is located at 2.300 meters (7.546 feet), 112 kilometers (70 miles) from the city of Cuzco, the Urubamba Valley in the bottom of the Sacred Valley, an area of access to high forest.
