Brazil Carnival Photos

Brazil's carnival is the most important holiday, popular and profane which commemorates the country's streets, is celebrated for three days before Ash Wednesday. The Brazilian Carnival was born as an adaptation of Portuguese heritage, the festival where all family participated, took place in the street and consisted in thrown meal and water, candy and streamers, all in time to music with characteristics of military march. These celebrations were banned because they became very violent.

The celebration is transformed and takes the character that we know today with the emergence of the samba schools, genuinely popular (particularly in the favelas and neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro) that were institutionalized and converted the carnival in the show world, where large sums are invested.

Currently in Brazil is prepares the carnival in most of the territory, but the most famous are the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the Olinda and Recife Carnival and Salvador de Bahia Carnival.
